A CygNet Point Scheme defines how the configurable bits of the status fields in the real-time record are calculated when a new value is assigned to a CygNet point associated with that point scheme. A point scheme also defines how the combination of the configurable bits resolve to a specific "point state" and "alarm condition", along with the available "alarm priority categories" that may be assigned to each configurable bit setting. A point state is configured in the point scheme with default foreground and background colors, which are often displayed in CygNet client applications, such as CygNet Studio. For more information, see Point State and Alarm Condition.
A single CygNet domain will have one or more point schemes, identified by unique point scheme numbers, defined and available for all CygNet Points in that domain. A specific point scheme number is associated with a specific CygNet point in the point definition record of the PNT service, which can be modified, when more than one point scheme is available, using the standard methods such as the PNT Editor, the Point Configuration Manager utility, or CygNet ODBC.
Definitions for the point schemes that are available on a CygNet domain are configured in the CvsMetadata.xml file found in the CygNet\Services\ARS directory. For more information about point schemes and CVS Metadata, see Alarm Calculation Types and Understanding the CvsMetadata File.
The default point scheme is known as the CygNet Standard Point Scheme (Point Scheme number 0). The information described in this Online Help is primarily for the default CygNet Standard Point Scheme.
Note: Alarm blinking is available only for points created using the CygNet Enhanced Point Scheme (Point Scheme number 1 - 15). The blinking feature is not available for points created using the default CygNet Standard Point Scheme (Point Scheme number 0).
An alternate point scheme is known as the CygNet Enhanced Point Scheme, that is available as a separately licensed entity.
See Understanding the CVS Metadata File for more information about the elements and attributes that define the CygNet Enhanced Point Scheme.
See Other Alarm Calculation Types for a list of alarm calculation types used in the CygNet Enhanced Point Scheme.
Contact CygNet Support for more information about the CygNet Enhanced Point Scheme or the creation of other custom point scheme definitions.
There are hidden "legacy" script functions related to the point state of a CygNet Point value, that are only valid when the referenced CygNet Point is associated with the CygNet Standard Point Scheme. Calling one of these legacy script functions with a reference to a CygNet Point that is not associated with the CygNet Standard Point Scheme will return an error.
The following are hidden legacy script functions that can only reference points associated with the CygNet Standard Point Scheme.
